A Stabian Adventurer
History and Legend of a
Stabian Adventurer
THE GREAT MOGOL
CATELLO FILOSA was born in
Stabia - ITALY - in 1749 from a
modest family and a sailor father.
As soon as he was sixteen he
was struck by the desire to see the world, perhaps after seeing some boys
digging in the sand and finding a chest with gold coins.
He left Stabia to discover
the unknown and after various vicissitudes he landed in Calcutta.
Soon his life changed, after
meeting J. B. de la FONTAINE, who did made him enter the service of the Mughal
Asof- nd D'aula.
Gifted with great ambition
and cunning, he received various military awards, including the appointment of
General of the Imperial Guards and then 11 battalions under his command.
This allowed him to promote
better even his interests.
He began to accumulate wealth
and power.
From his first wife he had
two children.
But when years later he was
accused of treason ,he fled from Calcutta taking refuge in Goia, under the
Portuguese Protectorate.
He was able to have three
more children.
But years later he left Goia
to return to his
STABIA
that he had always carried in
his heart.
He took his three children
with him and was loaded with immense riches, charm and mystery.
He was able to have two other
children in Stabia.
But he was also a Man of
Great Generosity, giving charity and helping the needy.
A Stabian Adventurer
the GREAT MOGOL
Twilight was beginning
on the
seafront in Stabia,
while Catello dreamed
distant horizons,
since he was a child.
Also that Tender Wind
that blew from Mt.
encouraged
him
to go far
and
do not appear indolent
for that golden dream.
Thus it began
its beautiful story
for a long
adventure
in distant lands
never seen before
without
knowing anything.
With obstinacy
and great courage
he
was invited to the service
of a Mighty of the place
Calcutta in INDIA
Rich became,
covered with honors,
having the command
of armed men.
But an ungrateful life
that sometimes ignores you,
he reserved
a bitter surprise,
because he
was accused
of Treason
and, to flee, forced
in a hurry
He had in the Heart
his homeland
and he returned
to Stabia,
trying for yourself
a great nostalgia
but carrying with it
immense riches.
