Gloria Zapata is a poet from Mexico. She writes poetry at the
instance of her inner self. Her poem ‘So you know I am thinking of you’ is
taken from her book ‘One Hundred Tears Of Love’. The title of the poem itself
suggests that the poem happens to be a love poem. The poem, indeed, is an
expressive one which depicts the feelings and sensibilities of a poet. It is
mostly the night when the poet is wrapped with the darkness of light but her
mind glows with the feelings and creativity. In this poem, Gloria sensitized
the silence and darkness for pensive thinking. She talks of insomnia and her
own thought process. She opens up about her illusions and their soothing
presence in her life. She doesn’t fail to mingle the images of her beloved and
God himself. There is a mention of all the elements of nature such as forest,
songs, birds, sky and many more which necessitate the poetic expression to be
strong. The tagline of the poem is vividly the most mesmerizing one being ‘To
know I am thinking of you’. It is actually the poet herself who can confess who
her beloved is.
The poem successfully conveys the message of the poet to the readers.
