,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
August 24,
79 AD, until today has been
indicated as the date of the spectacular eruption that destroyed Pompeii,
Herculaneum and Stabiae.
But from some considerations gradually
found by recent excavations and lastly the discovery of a coin that refers to
the 15th acclamation of Emperor Titus,
which took place after 8 /
9 / 79
AD, the date has been moved to autumn and that is to 24
of October 79 AD
There were many deaths due to toxic
gases, while others were buried from ashes and lapilli.
Excavations started in the mid-18th century by the Bourbons , with great initial
enthusiasm, on Antica Stabia . But they
were moved later
after an exciting start, on the small
city of Pompeii which would have allowed many more discoveries than a place
like Stabia certainly. But certainly not
of particular value, because the latter represented the summer residence of
patricians and senators.
Then over time neglected by all and even
more seriously plundered, culpably, up to the present day, with incompetent or
corrupt politicians
And you
can't understand why,
Dear Superintendent?

of the Volcano Vesuvius
Near the sea,
in a
very pleasant country,
turned towards sunset,
a day like any other .
During that twilight
even the birds
melancholy ,
they hid in the branches,
for an omen
chasing them in their wake.
At that hour in Stabia,
patricians and senators,
lie down on tricliniums,
they
feasted with happy friends,
. while,
poor people without God,
with little they fed themselves,
in silence .
Then,
after turning off the lights,
now tired,
while
everyone slept peacefully,
like
a cap that loosens suddenly,
Vesuvius shot up
a heavy rain of ashes and lapilli.
But also for those few
who ran away
in fear
and still half asleep,
from
that hell they were petrified.
Despite such a cruel tragedy
few that warning
they then feared,
because
almost as a challenge
they built
at the sides and at his feet.
