Once Thou Essayed
Once thou essayed
With a great promise
To have put on
The auspicious vermilion
On thy forehead
In my name
Once thou essayed
With a great loving heart
To build an abode
In thy heart for me
And thou shalt worship
Making a loving altar
For me to sit with thy lap
Once thou essayed
To help me when
My days are as dark as night
But thy darkling my dark
night
Is so sweet that on the earth
None has ever tasted
Once thou essayed
To hold my hand
Throughout thy life
So called the rest on the
earth
But thou sided off
Ignoring all that I poured
Into thy ear in a running
evening
Once thou essayed
That true love dwells
Not in the words spoken
Nor in the words written
But in the very action
That wife & husband
perform
For each other
Once thou essayed
Never to judge
And not to act upon
The very heart of a man
If thou hath true love for
him
For the universal nature
Beholds all that thou think
& act
